Knobbies for Newbies Mtb Series!
Join us for our 3 part, on-trail instructional series of mountain bike group rides for men and women geared to introduce riders to local trails, learn & improve technical skills in a non-intimidating environment, gain riding buddies, and enjoy some good food together! Definitely a good series for beginners but also for intermediate and other riders to brush up and increase skill and knowledge. This series will be lead by our longtime customer and friend Megan Diebold.
Knobbies for Newbies MTB Series
Thank you to all who participated in this three part mountain bike series. We had great groups for each event and look forward to doing another series soon. A special thanks also to Megan Diebold for leading this series for us!
#1 – Sunday 2/12 – Mountain Biking Intro/Basics Ride
11am – Rope Mill & Post Ride Lunch at Taco Mac
Get excited to learn about the basics like trail etiquette, body position, breaking, shifting, and more! The goal of this ride is to get comfortable with your bike, learn a few things about reading the trail, and most importantly have fun! We will spend most of our time on the Mill beginner trails.
#2 – Saturday 3/25 – Mountain Biking Beginners Ride
9am – Rope Mill & Post Ride Brunch at Another Broke Egg
In this ride, we will start to turn up the skills a little like learning how to lift your front wheel, rear wheel, bunny hops, and cornering. This is a great ride to focus on gaining confidence in your newfound skills! We will spend most of our time up the gravel path in an open area and the Explorer beginner/intermediate trail.
#3 – Saturday 4/15 – Mountain Biking Intermediate Ride
9am – Sope Creek & Post Ride Lunch at Heirloom
Time to take the learnings from the first two sessions and try out a new trail! We will add a new conversation around speed and control on descents, techy climbing, and add a few more miles to our ride! We will spend most of our time on the mountain bike trails at Cochran Shoals!
Meet at Chattahoochee National Recreation Area, Cochran Shoals Unit parking lot and be ready to ride by 9 am. Address and map below:
1955 Eugene Gunby Rd
Marietta, GA 30067
Prior to participating in these events, you must read our participation policies.
We hope to see you out there. Even if you can’t join the group for the ride, you are always welcome to join for the trail or post ride festivities!
Megan Diebold Mohn is an all around outdoor enthusiast. She has a passion for biking, hiking, running, or mountaineering, and completed her first Ironman in Chattanooga in 2016. Although she enjoys her time on the road with friends, she loves mountain biking with her husband, and 4-legged fur kid. The only thing better to her than ridding on a trail, is being able to foster the growth and excitement of a new mountain biker! Megan is an active volunteer trip leader with the Outdoor Recreation at Georgia Tech (ORGT) where she bridges the gap between recreation and teaching valuable leadership skills. Favorite trails – Hand cut with lots of reminders that you are in nature! You can find her in Brevard, NC on a cool weather weekend in Dupont or Pisgah National Forest.
